Rebecca Scibilia

Rebecca Scibilia (b 1980, Melbourne) is a mid-career painter who utilises a variety of media for her works on paper and canvas. Inspired by popular culture influences that she sources from her favourite DVDs and celebrity magazines, she creates abstract artworks in bold markers and paints that result in a lurid colour palette. Catchphrases occasionally weave their way through her work, adding layers of symbolism and humour. Scibilia has worked at Arts Project since 1999 and held her first solo exhibition in 2014. She has exhibited extensively in group shows nationally and internationally, with work in the Leeuwin Estate Collection as well as private collections throughout Australia.
